Correspondence Clerk Lead (SCA) (Healthcare)

The position of Correspondence Clerk Lead (SCA) (Healthcare) requires strong management of the workload to ensure accurate & timely processing of all correspondence, to meet or exceed the deadlines as dictated by department management, company and regulatory compliance requirements.

• Lead by example; ensure staff are adhering to department & company policies, elevate any concerns to department management for review.
• Review employee requests & forward to department management for approval.
• Manage workflow and staffing needs to ensure contractual compliance with, and efficient, accurate processing of all correspondence functions all portfolios as assigned.
• Prepare & submit monthly and quarterly totals of team production to department management.
• Prepare & submit by deadlines all monthly reporting as required for individual client(s).
• Prepare, update, maintain, company work instructions and desktop level procedural work instructions. Submit as needed/requested and/or quarterly for review & obtain approvals by department management for publication.
• Ensure consistent & continual cross training of all team members to provide depth of knowledge for each task.
• Provide recommendations to department management on workflow and process improvements towards efficiency, accuracy and streamlining whenever possible.
• Provide timely & professional responses to questions, complaints, errors, and clarifications needed by team members, recovery/production department, compliance department, administrative & Customer Service staff and all management as needed.
• Create & apply proper training practices within training program for existing & new employees.
• Train and develop new team members, follow training record requirements and provide ongoing coaching, training and updates as needed or required.
• Complete accurately & efficiently any and all tasks as assigned by department management.
• Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

• Ability to effectively transfer knowledge/train hourly staff.
• Demonstrated knowledge and capability in managing workflow, staff and work volumes effectively to support business needs.
• Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare audit, billing and recovery processes and practices (Medicare and Medicaid working knowledge strongly preferred).
• Ability to assess staff capability, identify knowledge gaps and potential issues, and give direction/lead work activities of others in an effective manner with positive outcomes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; including excellent phone and email etiquette.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in difficult interactions or conflict.
• Excellent attendance; ability to work full-time during core business hours and as required to meet business needs.
• Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data.
• Solid desktop system skills; effective use of standard Microsoft office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and adept in quickly adapting to use of various business systems and applications.
• Intermediate or Advanced MS Excel
• Able to work efficiently independently
• Strong communication in both verbal & written business language skills
• Responsible, dependable, conscientious, detail oriented and able to make decisions & know when to escalate to department management.

•Completion of Teleworker Agreement upon hire, and adherence to the Agreement (and related policies and procedures) including, but not limited to: able to navigate computer and phone systems as a user to work remote independently using on-line resources, must have high-speed internet connectivity, appropriate workspace able to be compliant with HIPAA, safety & ergonomics, confidentiality, and dedicated work focus without distractions during work hours.

Physical Requirements:

**NOTE: Must be able to meet requirements for and perform work assignments in accordance with Company policies and expectations on a home remote basis (and must meet Performant remote-worker requirements) until at which time staff will be notified and required to work from a Performant office location. Basic office equipment required to perform remote work is provided by the company.

-Job is in a busy standard is performed in an office environment with moderate noise level (or may be home-office setting subject to Company approval and Teleworker Agreement), sits at a desk during scheduled shift, uses office phone or headset provided by the Company using an office telephony system; views a computer monitor, types on a keyboard and uses a mouse.
-Reads and comprehends information in electronic (computer) or paper form (written/printed).
-Sit/stand 8 or more hours per day; has the option to stand as needed while on calls; reach as needed to use office equipment.
-Consistently viewing a computer screen and types frequently, but not constantly, using a keyboard to update accounts.
-Consistently communicates on the phone; headset is also provided.
-Occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 10lbs.
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Some college preferred but not required.
• 5+ years in relevant office/administration/support environment roles with progressive complexity preferably in healthcare related business. 
• 1+ year experience in role with responsibility for leading team members, projects, or function demonstrating skills and experience relevant to the role.

•Must submit to and pass pre-hire background check, as well as additional checks throughout employment
•Must not have any felony convictions or specific misdemeanors, nor on state/federal debarment or exclusion lists.
• Must not have any Federal or State liens resulting from County, State or Federal tax issues.
• Must not have any current defaulted student loans.
•Performant is a government contractor. Assignments for this position require timely submission to and successful outcome of background and government clearance as a condition of offer of employment and post hire condition of continued employment with the Company.
