HR Specialist, Leave of Absence and Compliance

As a professional member of the Corporate HR Compliance team you will apply well-rounded HR background with in-depth experience in various forms of Leaves of Absence (LOAs), Worker's Compensation and other areas of HR Compliance to support all business divisions with offices in 6 states (CA, OR, TX, FL, IN, and TN) and remote workers in numerous other states. •Understands the business and its objectives and applies in the performance of job duties.

•Applies in depth understanding of applicable Federal and State employment related law and compliance, as well as employment related laws and requirements for government contractors in the performance of job duties.

•Effectively manages full-cycle of routine to complex employee full and intermittent leaves of absence (LOA) including, but not limited to, FMLA, similar state leaves, ADA, Worker’s Compensation, and other company leave program types.

•Collaborates across HR resources to lead or support a variety of HR programs, initiatives and activities.

•Has ownership for managing leave projects and initiatives as well as manage leave activity for assigned group(s).

•Contributes to the development and maintenance of HR policies and procedures, as well as HR Communications.

•May support a variety of HRIS and HR procedures as need for employee activities in times of high volume.

•Applies good judgement, research and analytical skills to conduct investigations, conflict mediation, disciplinary actions, terminations and coaching employees and managers in a variety of situations to resolve employee relations matters for assigned business group(s).

• Reinforce understanding and interpretation of, as well as accountability for adherence to company policies and procedures.

•Leverages HR Management team resources as applicable for escalation and/or guidance.

• May deliver training and ensures successful completion of compliance training and other required activities by client group(s).

• Effectively uses technology for HR workflow

• Leverages knowledge and expertise in HR best practices and legal environment to collaborate and proactively contribute to the development, continuous improvement and implementation of policies, procedures, workflow, programs, and other HR initiatives.

• Solid base knowledge of state and federal labor laws andregulations, and HR principles & practices, including but not limited to,leave management, accommodations, hiring, and separations.

•Demonstrated ability with successful assessment, investigation,advice, and resolution of employee relations matters.

• Depth of knowledge gained through direct work experiencein diverse HR disciplines including, but not limited to:  employee relations, investigations andcoaching; leave management; hiring and terminations, and; HR policy andprocedure maintenance.

• Intermediate competency with various computer programs (MSOffice: Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Outlook) as well as HRIS, ATS and LMSapplications on a daily basis with ease; and quickly learn and adapt to newsystems and applications

• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

• Ability to adapt to a changing and fast pace environment.

• Ability to handle multiple priorities while working underpressure to meet deadlines.

• Strong attention to detail and organization skills.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, includingphone etiquette, with ability to be appropriate and effective with audiences atall levels in the organization.

• Familiarity and experience with a variety of HR concepts,practices and procedures.

• Innovative and creative approach to best practices, problemsolving, planning and implementation.

• Highly dependable.

Physical Requirements:

Job is in a busy standard office environment with moderatenoise level, sits at a desk and participates in meetings, uses office phonesystem; views a computer monitor, types on a keyboard and uses a mouse. Readsand comprehends information in electronic (computer) or paper form(written/printed).

- Sit/stand 8 or more hours per day; has the option to standas needed while on calls; reach as needed to use office equipment.

- Consistently viewing a computer screen, typing, using akeyboard and mouse.

- Uses phone; head-set can be provided.

- Occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 10lbs.

Education and Experience:

Education and Experience:

• Significant experience, generally 5+ years of progressive professional level HR Generalist experience with sufficient depth and breadth applying independent judgment to successfully perform job duties with minimal oversight.

• Must have sufficient experience to demonstrate capability in employee relations, investigations, management coaching, leave program administration and infrastructure, and program/project leadership.

• Experience in a dynamic fast-paced professional office environment.

• Bachelor degree in Human Resources or other related field is preferred.

• PHR or SPHR certification preferred.

Other Requirements:

Performant is a government contractor, and has certain requirements based upon applicable regulations and client requirements.

• Ability to successfully receive clearances for clientrequirements (facilitated through the company).

• Must submit to and pass background check.

• Must not have any Federal or State liens resulting fromCounty, State or Federal tax issues.

• Must not have any current defaulted student loans.

• Must be able to pass a criminal background check; must nothave any felony convictions or specific misdemeanors.

• Must submit to and pass drug screen.
